Greetings all.

I hope that you are all doing amazing.

Today I’m going to talk about self-love. It has become such a popular phrase but I think there are still many of us who still have issues with who they are and how to practice self-love.

You relationship with yourself is your most important relationship after your relationship with God.

Reminder, you were created in the image of God. So now close your eyes and imagine for a moment the greatness of your God and realize how amazing you are !! A great, beautiful, wonderful God, Almighty, the King of Kings. You have been created in his image !!! (Genesis 1:27)

If you do not know your value, you will let others define it for you, and it is such a big mistake. Anyone will give you any value and you will find yourself lost in the middle of it all.

People will treat you the way you treat yourself. Be aware that your energy can transfer and the people around you can feel when you have a lack of self-esteem or trust, and they will treat you the same way. Ok, imagine a house where everything is very clean, very tidy, the house is beautiful and smells very good. Will you have the courage to go to this house as a visitor and leave dirt behind? Will you have the courage to even drop the pack of a snack that you have eaten? I personally would not dare because the owners of this house have presented me a house so well kept and there is no way that I treat this house anyhow. Your body is the temple of the Lord, make sure you take the greatest care.

For some of us, our relationship with ourselves may be based on the eyes of others. But again a reminder, people will always have something to say about everything you do. People look at appearances, but it is God who sees the heart (1 Samuel 16: 7). It is to God that you must please, not to humans.

For others it is the mistakes of the past that take over and make you doubt about you and your value but again, I ask you to stop. Nobody is perfect, everyone makes mistakes. Everyone has fallen. Do not fall and stay on the ground, fall and stand up. You’re going to fail and mess up from times to times, and don’t doubt your worth every time you fail, fall or mess up, you are damaging your mind and your spirit. Get right back up, you are better and stronger that what you think. Just find out what God wants for you, ask him His will for your life. With him, you are a new creation, the old has passed away (2 Corinthians 5:17). Do not dwell on your mistakes because it is not your mistakes that define the trajectory of your life or your value. What happened, is the past, embrace the new you!

How do you love yourself?

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

4Love is patient, love is kind. […]5It does not dishonor others, […]it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6[…] 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8Love never fails. […]

Be patient with yourself, be patient with your heart, your projects, and your progress. Be kind to yourself, don’t harm yourself with negative thoughts and by doubting your worth. Don’t dishonor yourself by letting the world define who you are, and tell you whether or not you are good enough, because you are more than enough. Don’t be angry at yourself, don’t be too harsh on you, you are not perfect, only God is. You will make mistakes, but He will still love you. So yourself, don’t keep records of what you have done wrong because God doesn’t do it. Protect yourself, trust in the Lord and His work and will for you. Never stop loving yourself! You are not a failure. You are fearfully and wonderfully made in God and God is love

Every day, thank God for who you are, thank him for choosing you, for loving you, for making you so wonderfully. Look in the mirror and admire your beauty. Never stop reminding yourself of of smart, talented, creative, amazing and worthy you are. Send away negative, downgrading and belittling thoughts about yourself. Focus on the good in you, improve yourself. Love yourself because «You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you » Song of Songs 4:7; « you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light » 1 Peter 2:9

I want to end this by asking you to make this declaration from Psalm 139:13-15

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

One thought on “ABOUT SELF-LOVE…

  1. We tend to see ourselves through the lens of who other people said that we are, our failures and emotional trauma of the past. To change this we need to transform this faulty view of ourselves by be renewed in our mind (Romans 12:2) and by letting that mind that was in Christ Jesus be also in us (Philippians 2:5-11). By allowing the Word to transform our mind we will relate to God and others in healthier ways.
